Using SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION as your approach to the problem of carbon, I would like you to apply the method of DISCOURSE ANALYSIS in discussing the problem of carbon emissions as presented in chapter 8 and in the newspaper article. In the process:

Discuss what social construction means and what a social constructivist does to understand an environmental problem. Discuss the crux of the argument on carbon emission/climate change (from chapter 8 and web articles): for and against Using discourse analysis compare carbon emission stories as told in chapter 8 and in the newspaper article. Remember to bring in differences in narratives, concepts, ideologies, and signifying practices. After the discussion is complete, choose your favorite approach to carbon/climate change. Choose either social construction or one of those used in chapter 8: institutions, market economy, political economy. Justify your choice. Please note that these three articles are really short, read them all. Each of them brings one aspect or another in the discourse on climate change (these are all either climate change deniers or skeptics).
