Influence of Community and Lived Experience on Public Health Perspective

My upbringing in a close-knit community with limited access to healthcare services has profoundly shaped my views on public health. Witnessing the barriers faced by individuals in seeking quality healthcare due to financial constraints and lack of resources has instilled in me a deep sense of empathy and advocacy for health equity. My community’s struggles have underscored the importance of preventive healthcare measures and the need for accessible and affordable health services for all.

The interdisciplinary nature of the Public Health-Global Health Major intrigues me, as it offers a holistic approach to addressing health disparities on a global scale. Addressing Academic Discrepancies

My academic journey encountered a setback when I failed Chemistry 162 in the summer of 2023. However, I approached this experience as a valuable learning opportunity rather than a setback. Taking a break from chemistry in the fall of 2023 allowed me to reflect on my study habits and academic strategies. Enrolling in Chemistry 162 for the second time in winter 2024, I implemented new learning techniques and sought additional support to improve my understanding of the concepts. Embracing failure as a stepping stone to growth has taught me resilience and the importance of perseverance in achieving academic goals. This experience has reinforced my commitment to continuous improvement and proactive learning strategies in overcoming academic challenges.
